B. Connection to your witness, preaching and teaching in urban ministry contexts
1. In what way can I help the students I teach understand and apply the power of the insights regarding simplicity and overcoming the power of materialism and greed? How might I address this concern more directly in their lives? 2. In what way do I need to emphasize the importance of silence and solitude in my ministry to those whom I lead and teach? Am I a good model for them in these areas? How can I begin right away to encourage them in their own spiritual development through the practice of silence and solitude, both alone and together? 3. What role does the discipline of submission play in my discipleship and ministry today? What misconceptions are my students likely to have in regards to submitting to others? How can I best address their questions about the right use of submission, especially those who must learn to either submit or resist ungodly, destructive leadership? 4. How can I be a better example of a servant leader for Christ to my students? Have I helped them see how critical the concept of servanthood is to their own Christian development? How could I best help them to grasp the power of kindness, generosity, and hospitality in developing a compelling Christian witness.
5. As a result of these disciplines of character, what is the one thing I will trust God for as I take my next step in my journey to be a more disciplined person?
