c. God’s leading is given to his entire people , and we must obey God’s leading together as a people.
(1) Isa. 1.16-20 – Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, [17] learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause. (2) Jer. 4.14 – O Jerusalem, wash your heart from evil, that you may be saved. How long shall your wicked thoughts lodge within you? (3) Ezek. 18.31 – Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel? (1) 1 Pet. 2.9-11 – But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. [10] Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. [11] Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. (2) Deut. 4.20 – But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be a people of his own inheritance, as you are this day. (3) Acts 20.28 – Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.
d. The individual receives leading, blessing, and instruction from God in the midst of his people.
