1. Each of our lives (and therefore ministry opportunities) is unique : our life backgrounds, relationship networks, personal abilities, and ministry opportunities will vary.
2. No one size fits all in ministry ; God gives special tasks to individuals for his own purposes and reasons.
3. God can call people into service in many ways and through many means .
4. God doesn’t owe us anything . Anyone used by God in any way should be grateful for his gracious gift.
5. Regardless of the position given, all authority is given for the purpose of edifying and building up others, 2 Cor. 13.10.
6. The operative principle of all Christian leadership is servanthood, to give one’s life for the good of the body, Matt. 20.26-28.
7. The Holy Spirit alone determines both the depth and scope of our individual callings through his dispensing of the gifts, 2 Cor. 3.17; 1 Cor. 12.1-13.
8. As Lord of all, Jesus Christ directs the steps of his men and women, enabling them to fulfill their ministries as he leads, Matt. 9.35-39.
9. Sincerity and effort will never ensure solid ministry; without the Lord’s direction and empowerment, fruitful ministry is impossible, 2 Cor 3.4-5.
