Band of Brothers - Why We Fight

SIAFU Mens Conference, Band of Brothers: Why We Fight Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis, p. 16

B. B REAK IT DOWN ! Jesus’s first coming represented God’s invasion of Satan’s domain with a mind to rescue and release humankind and all creation from bondage

1. In his first coming, Christ established God’s Kingdom in his incarnation and passion, cf. Mark 1.14-15

2. Now by repentance and faith, we are delivered from the domain of darkness and translated into the Kingdom of his dear Son, Col. 1.13-14

3. Christ is calling out of humankind a people for himself, soldiers enlisted to die to themselves and live for his glory as combatants in this war of the worlds, Luke 14.26-33

C. C HECK THIS OUT . The battle of the ages surround the question: “Who will rule this universe, and thereby be given all praise and honor within it?”

1. The battle is over who will ultimately rule over God’s universe, Rev. 11.15

2. The battle involves who will receive ultimate praise and honor, Isa. 43.7, 21

3. The battle is exclusive: one side or the other must and will win, 1 John 5.3-4

D. M AKE IT P LAIN . Simply said, God the Father through Jesus of Nazareth in the power of the Holy Spirit is the only one who deserves all praise.

1. Christ Jesus deserves all honor and praise, Phil. 2.5-11

2. The warfare we fight is intimately connected to Christ’s honor and reputation, 2 Tim. 2.1-4
