APPENDIX 68 Apostolicity: The Unique Place of the Apostles in Christian Faith and Practice Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis

Gal. 1.8-9 (ESV)

- But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel

[9] As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. - Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. - Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things that have been accomplished among us, just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word have delivered them to us, it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, that you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught. - And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning. - To them he presented himself alive after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. - So one of the men who have accompanied us during all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from us—one of these men must become with us a witness to his resurrection. - That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us— that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. “Apostolicity” 2 Thess. 3.6 (ESV) Luke 1.1-4 (ESV) [2] [3] [4] John 15.27 (ESV) Acts 1.3 (ESV) Acts 1.21-22 (ESV) [22] 1 John 1.1-3 (ESV) [2] [3] contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
