The following questions were designed to help you review the material in the second video segment. As in our last segment, in this section we say how the Three-Step Model of biblical interpretation can be a very effective method to discern the meaning of Scripture, and we illustrated its uses through the study of Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, in his first epistle, 9.1-14. Like any skill, the method of biblical interpretation can be mastered with much effort, long practice, and careful instruction from those who know it well. The first step in gaining skill at this method is understanding the various steps involved in effective and methodical Bible study. Review your understanding so far with the questions below, and concentrate on the actual way the method was illustrated in your video segment. 1. To what extent can the Three-Step Model prove to be an effective method of biblical interpretation with any or all of the units of Bible materials (words, paragraphs, chapters, books, sections)? In your illustration above, what kind of unit is Paul’s instruction to the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 9.1-14?
