• As free members of the people of God, we are called to mission. As 21st century disciples of Jesus, we are called to fulfill the Great Commission, to make disciples of all nations, to do battle with our spiritual enemy the devil, and to demonstrate the life of the Kingdom through our love and good works.

I. The Word of God that Calls Indeed Calls Us to Live and Work in Community, as Members of His Family, Living out the Story of God as His People (the Laos of God).

A. The Word of God that calls us to community causes us to share in the very life of God through regeneration .

1. Palingenesia - regeneration and “new birth.” The power of the Word of God actually creates in us the very life of God, we become linked to God’s own life-together.

a. We now have become partakers of the divine nature of God, sharing his very life, 2 Pet. 1.3-4.

b. We are members of God’s people and family, 1 John 3.1.

c. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; that which is born of the Spirit (i.e., of God’s own life) is spirit, John 3.5-6.

2. Believers have been joined together as one in the life of Jesus Christ.
