2. We are a people of Christ’s peculiar possession, who are zealous for good works, Titus 2.14.

3. We are to seek to do justice among all people, especially those of the household of faith, Gal. 6.9-10.

4. We are called to demonstrate the reality of our faith through loving acts of service, especially to the poor and the widow.

a. A faith that is not accompanied by actions is an empty and dead faith, James 2.14-26.

b. The love of God does not dwell in the heart of a person who neglects the practical need of their Christian brother, 1 John 3.16-18.

c. True religion in the sight of God is caring for the widow and the orphan, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world, James 1.27.

d. What we do or fail to do with the poor, the stranger, the hungry, the thirsty, the sick, the prisoner, and the naked, will be reckoned as what we did or failed to do to Jesus Christ, cf. Matt. 25.31-46.

Conclusion

» The Word that calls us to individual discipleship also calls us to live and work in Christian community, as members of his glorious family in the people of God ( laos ). » The Word calls us to live free in Christ, loving and serving each other as we celebrate new life and use our liberty to win others for Christ.
