4. The final aspect concerns the indwelling Holy Spirit who produces righteousness in us as we yield to him in trust and obedience, Rom. 8.3-4.

B. Scripture allows no person to take pride in their own righteousness.

1. All humanity is convicted as unrighteous before God, Rom. 3.19.

2. Without Jesus Christ, none are acceptable to God; all are lost, condemned, and utterly doomed to experience God’s wrath and displeasure, John 3.36.

III. The Holy Spirit, through the Word of God, Convicts the World of Judgment.

A. All unbelievers are condemned and subject to God’s wrath according to Scripture.

1. Unbelievers are called the “children of wrath,” Eph. 2.1-3.

2. God has appointed a day to judge the world through Jesus Christ, Acts 17.30-31.

B. God will judge all people everywhere on the basis of what they have done, whether good or evil.

1. Jesus declares in Revelation 22.12 that he soon will return to judge all people according to the deeds they have done.
