This lesson has emphasized the direct relationship between the Word of God and the Spirit of God. In order for the Word of God to have its full sway in our lives, we must ask God to teach us his Word by his Spirit, to convict our own hearts of any sin, pride, foolishness, and resistance that might be in us, and then, that he would allow that same powerful Word to touch the lives of those for whom we pray and minister. Never underestimate the power of the Word of God to melt a waxy heart or turn a person from their own self-destructive path to the Lord. Pray that God would give you greater conviction about its inspiration, inerrancy, and potent power. Only as we experience the convicting power of the Word of God will we understand its ability to heal, to transform, and to illumine the hearts of others.

Reading Assignment

Again, make certain that you read the assignments above, and as last week, write a brief summary for them and bring these summaries to class next week (please see the “Reading Completion Sheet” at the end of this lesson). Also, now is the time to begin to think about the character of your ministry project, as well as decide what passage of Scripture you will select for your exegetical project. Do not delay in determining either your ministry or exegetical project. The sooner you select, the more time you will have to prepare! Our next study, lesson three of our Conversion and Calling module, is entitled, “The Word that Converts.” In our next session we’ll discover how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Word that converts, which leads both to metanoia , (repentance from sin and a turning towards God in Jesus Christ) and to pistis , (to faith through which God saves, delivers, and rescues the believer from the penalty, power, and presence of sin). This Word that converts produces inward signs of new spiritual life
