C O N V E R S I O N A N D C A L L I N G

I. The Word that Converts Produces Inward Signs of Life Which Serve as Evidence to Show Our Transformation in Jesus Christ.

A. One sign is a growing inward assurance that God has become the heavenly Father of the new believer.

2 Cor. 13.5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? -- unless indeed you fail to meet the test!

1. Eternal life is coming to know the Father through his Son , Jesus Christ, John 17.3.

2. This must be a work of God alone , for no one can knowGod without the work of Jesus, Matt. 11.27.

3. The Spirit bears witness in the spirit of the believer that they belong to the Father, Rom. 8.16-17.

4. Those who belong to God will develop inside an ever-increasing confidence that they belong to the Lord , that the God and Father of Jesus Christ is their God, 1 John 3.19-24.

B. Another inward sign of authentic conversion is the experience of conversing with God through prayer .

1. The Holy Spirit comes to indwell the new believer by faith , and his presence in the Christian produces a new desire to communicate with God. The Holy Spirit fills the Christian, enabling them to pray and worship God.
