F. What all the differing views about the Lord’s Supper share in common:

1. Every part of Christian theology believes that the Lord’s Supper is:

a. An essential part of Christian worship

b. A direct command of Christ to his Church

c. A time that draws us closer to God and to our fellow believers

d. A time that allows us to grasp hold of God’s grace and respond to him with gratitude and praise

e. Meant to be received in faith and to help us place our complete faith in the work of Christ

f. A time in which sins can be dealt with and placed under God’s forgiving mercy

2. We may disagree on how the Lord’s Supper causes these things to happen but those disagreements should not cause us to lose sight of the fundamental importance of the Supper in our life of worship. It is a gift of God’s grace to his Church.
