Salvation, as an image, arises from the idea of the need for rescue, for deliverance, for help, for aid. In a real sense, the reason why so many Christians do not sense the great deliverance that has occurred on their behalf through Jesus Christ is that they have lost the context out of which the language of salvation emerges . In other words, salvation makes no sense unless your life is in danger and you are about to be destroyed. Joel 2.32 - And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as the Lord has said, and among the survivors shall be those whom the Lord calls. Only in such a condition does the prospect of salvation become something significant and longed for. The cursed condition of creation and the world necessitates a need for salvation, for deliverance, for mercy. The key to understanding salvation is to understand the dire conditions we find ourselves in because of the Fall. No appreciation of the Fall, no real appreciation for the salvation that rescues us from it. These questions are designed to ensure that the students understand the critical aims and facts presented in the first video segment. Time is of the essence, and depending on how you have broken up your class segments for discussion and review, it will be necessary for you to gauge your time well especially if your students are intrigued with the concepts and want to discuss their implications at length. Allow for the proper time to focus in on the main points and still have enough time for a break before the next video segment is started. Here, as always, focus upon hitting the critical insights that bring out the objectives of the lesson. Underscore the objectives at every turn; these are what you want your students to remember and retain as you go forward in the lesson. Acts 2.21 - And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
