» A thorough knowledge of who Jesus is and what he did lies at the heart of our faith and of the Gospel. » The doctrinal content of the Good News message is contained in the Nicene Creed, which provides a clear, useful, and powerful outline of the critical truths associated with Jesus’ incarnation, passion, resurrection, ascension, and Second Coming. » A mastery of the content of the Creed will provide us with a running story of the Gospel message which can be adapted as we share the message in our communities. The following questions were designed to help you review the material in the second video segment. The Nicene Creed provides us with a clear, useful, and concise outline of the doctrinal content of the Good News message, focusing as it does on his incarnation, passion, resurrection, ascension, and Second Coming. Rehearse these details clearly and concisely, supporting your views always where possible with Scripture! 1. What does the Creed assert about Jesus’ person before he came down from heaven and became human, i.e., who was he before he took on human form? 2. In what way did the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary combine their activities to produce the human being, Jesus of Nazareth? 3. Why is it necessary in the content of the Gospel to assert that Jesus was actually physically crucified, that is, that he actually died on the cross? 4. What does it mean when we say that Jesus’ suffering for humankind was “vicarious?” What does the burial of Jesus signify regarding his death and departure from this world? 5. List three Old Testament Scriptures which refer to the resurrection of Messiah as a prophecy. 6. What is the meaning of the resurrection of Messiah Jesus in regards to our salvation, and therefore, our evangelism? 7. How does the ascension relate to our understanding of Jesus as Lord of all today? Describe Jesus’ present session in heaven–what is he doing at the present time at the Father’s right hand?
