truths associated with Jesus’ incarnation, passion, resurrection, ascension, and Second Coming. A mastery of the content of the Creed will provide us with a running story of the Gospel message which can be adapted as we share the message in our communities. Now is the time for you to discuss with your fellow students your questions about the content of the good news of the Gospel. The Gospel must be proclaimed and demonstrated, and the essence of the Good News is the confession of Jesus’ lordship and faith in God’s raising him from the dead. A clear, expanded doctrinal content of the Good News message is contained in the Nicene Creed, which provides a useful and powerful outline of the critical truths associated with Jesus’ incarnation, passion, resurrection, ascension, and Second Coming. To understand this outline, you must train yourself to answer your own particular questions of the material you have just studied. Maybe some of the questions below might help you form your own, more specific and critical questions. * In what way can we know for certain that the various titles and names given to the Gospel in the New Testament actually refer to the one and the same Gospel? (See Gal. 1.8-9) * Is it fair to suggest that the demonstration of the Gospel is as important as the actual telling of the Good News itself? Defend your answer with Scripture. * What is the meaning of the phrases in Romans 10: “confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised him from the dead?” Are these merely intellectual professions or something else? How can you know you have confessed and believed credibly? * Why is affirming that Jesus actually physically died and rose so important to the Gospel, and therefore so central for the evangelistic message? * What role does faith in Jesus’ resurrection from the dead play in the Gospel message? Can one be saved and not believe that Jesus physically rose from the grave? Why or why not? * Howmuch of Jesus’ person and work should an evangelist know in order to make the message most plain to those who have never heard of God’s offer in Christ?
