Not only ought we to seek the Lord’s face for his direction in our lives and ministries, we ought to ask others to remember us in prayer as well. It could be that as you have been studying this material regarding discipleship that the Holy Spirit has surfaced specific needs you have that call for the fervent prayer of others on your behalf. The promise of Jesus in answer to prayer is clear and without equivocation. Hear his word in Matthew 7.7-11: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. [8] For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. [9] Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? [10] Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? [11] If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! The Lord’s willingness to bless us and answer prayer on our behalf should encourage you to seek real prayer support in the development of your ministry, not only in this lesson but in all the various ministries in which you serve. Do not hesitate to ask your instructor or find a partner in prayer who can share the burden and lift up your requests to God. Of course, also remember the ministry of your church leaders and especially your pastor to lift these issues up to God on your behalf. Be open to God and allow him to lead you as he determines.
