As the Suffering Servant who fulfilled the Messianic prophecy of God regarding Messiah, he now has created a new community, the Church, whose mission it is to proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom to the poor and strive to demonstrate the life of that Kingdom to its members and its neighbors. The vision of mission (as sacred drama, as divine romance, as fulfillment of the promise, and as war of the spheres) is made plain when we, as members of the Church, awaken to our call to display the Kingdom of God in the earth. And, of all the places needing this display in the world today, the cities cry out for a living witness to Christ and his Kingdom. Our sincere desire is that we will embrace this call to join God in his sacred plot, in his divine romance, as children of the promise and warriors of Christ, and do all we can to advance his Kingdom to the ends of the earth. May our God grant you a heart for the world, as his servant, and may he through his Holy Spirit lead you to the ministry where you can make your unique contribution to make shalom a reality in the midst of the people of God today.
