However the Lord may call you to serve, the wisdom derived from understanding the principles of biblical eldership can dramatically impact and shape your life and ministry. In this section your aim must be to make the mental transfer from a focus on getting the concepts clear to making the truth real in your life. Begin to ponder the various facets and angles of truth you discovered on the nature of being an elder of the Lord, and seek the Spirit’s aid to help you make a personal and practical life and ministry connection, one which you can take and make a matter of prayer and application throughout the next week. Ask the Holy Spirit for the specific connections that he would like you to make in regard to your own role of leading others, whether in your home, on the job, or in the body. Ask God to give you insight into particular situations in which you need to apply the truths that he has given you in your own study, and in discussion with your instructor and fellow students. Be open to the Lord and he will provide you with these kinds of insights for your own application and edification (Ps. 139.23-24).
