d. God alone gives life and breath to everything, Acts 17.25.

4. No one and nothing can claim any kind of independence from God as source of all being.

a. God disposes of life here on earth, Job 12.10.

b. God alone is the origin of our creation and our breath, Job 33.4.

The unqualified teaching of Scripture is that God the Father Almighty, the Maker of the heavens and the earth, of all things visible and invisible is a sovereign God whose providential care touches all his works and creatures. nothing can sustain itself apart from his care, and no one can keep their life or existence one nano-second longer than he determines. He is the Lord of life, and preserves the life of all things according to his good will. Nothing has life outside of him,

c. God made the worlds and preserves the life of all beings upon the earth, Isa. 42.5.

d. In God alone do we have our movement and our existence, Acts 17.28.

B. Implications of God’s preservation of all things in the universe

1. What about the evolution debate ? Does a belief in evolution science deny one’s faith that the Father Almighty is the Maker of the heavens and the earth?

a. The Bible’s central aim is not to give scientific explanations that will satisfy atheistic skeptics, but to clearly reveal the Father Almighty as the source and Sustainer of all things .

b. The writers of the Bible had different aims than 21st-century debates about origins, but this does not mean we should ignore their teachings about the universe.
