(1) The Father Almighty is the Maker of heaven and earth.

(2) God is not to be equated with the worlds he made.

(3) All life finds its being and existence in God.

(4) Without God’s providential care, nothing would survive or continue; all things find their source and life in God.

2. Precisely how long did it take God to create the universe - a week or billions of years?

a. Because the Bible does not go into great specific detail on the “science” of creation, we can assume that the Lord’s primary aim was not scientific clarification of the “ how ” of the creation. (The focus is obviously upon the “ who ” not on a detailed scientific explanation of the “ how ”.)

b. We must embrace the integrity of the biblical headship of Adam (which is everywhere affirmed in Scripture, as well as by the Lord Jesus himself).

c. The future of the universe does not rest on the latest scientific theory about its origins but in the providential plan of God the Father Almighty!

II. God’s Special Work of Providence Is Further Revealed in His Governance Over all Things.

A. Definition of God’s governance over the universe
