Reading Assignment
1
You will be quizzed on the content (the video content) of this lesson next week. Make sure that you spend time covering your notes, especially focusing on the main ideas of the lesson. Read the assigned reading, and summarize each reading with no more than a paragraph or two for each. In this summary please give your best understanding of what you think was the main point in each of the readings. Do not be overly concerned about giving detail; simply write out what you consider to be the main point discussed in that section of the book. Please bring these summaries to class next week. (Please see the Reading Completion Sheet at the end of this lesson.) In our next lesson we will focus on the prophetic work of the Holy Spirit. We will talk about the prophetic Word as the basis for knowing God and examine the role of the Spirit in inspiring and illuminating the Scriptures. We will emphasize that the Spirit is not only prophetic in his revelation of God’s Word but is equally the one who applies the prophetic Word to the human heart. We will look at the ministry of the Holy Spirit in regard to convicting people of sin and bringing them to repentance. In all of this we will affirm our complete dependence on the Spirit for any saving knowledge of God and any empowerment for obedience to his Word.
