Remind your students that this module will be difficult to comprehend, but it will be remarkably blessed in the results. Both you and your students will need to ask the Lord for the wisdom that only his Spirit can provide, but God assures us that this wisdom is available to the one who has faith (James 1.5). Also notice here right from the beginning the objectives. These serve as your guideposts, pointers and roadmap to focus your attention and discussion. Note, too, that these aims are clearly stated, precede the content of any teaching or discussion, and are given in order that you may emphasize them throughout the lesson and during the discussions and interaction with the students. The more you can highlight the objectives throughout the class period, the better the chances are that they will understand and grasp the magnitude of these objectives. Do not hesitate to discuss these objectives briefly before you enter into the class period. Draw the students’ attention to the objectives, for, in a real sense, this is the heart of your educational aim for the class period in this lesson. Everything discussed and done ought to point back to these objectives. Find ways to highlight these at every turn, to reinforce them and reiterate them as you go. Again, with the kinds of materials that we will cover in God the Son, it will be highly important for you as mentor to return to the objectives, even in the midst of the lesson discussion and critical analysis that you do with your students on the content. The lesson objectives are not merely an introduction piece but the operating principles that you ought to return to over and over again throughout the entire class session. Be creative with this: place them on a poster board, make a banner of them, write them on the chalkboard or whiteboard, assign each of them to a person whom you call on throughout the lesson to repeat it for the class–find new and interesting ways to keep these objectives “front and center” before the attention and consciousness of the students. It will pay huge returns.
