2. His absolute commitment to finish his Father’s works, John 5.36 – But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me.

C. Jesus’ association with the light of the world, 9.5

1. Jesus’ light was the light of humankind, John 1.4 – In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

2. In Jesus God’s light has entered the world, John 3.19 – And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil.

a. John 8.12 – Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

b. John 12.35 – So Jesus said to them, “The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.”

c. John 12.46 – I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.

D. The healing, 9.6-7

1. Spat on the ground and made mud with the saliva, 9.6a
