The Gospe l of John
c. Luke 11.34-35 – Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness. [35] Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness.
d. John 3.19 – And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil.
e. John 12.40 – “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.”
4. The Pharisees’ certainty of their sight: If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, “We see,” your guilt remains, 9.40-41.
Conclusion and Review of the Major Concepts of Chapters 7-9
• Jesus of Nazareth is the Giver of living water, to those who believe ; to those who trust in him he gives the Holy Spirit, which wells up in the believer to life eternal. • As God’s Son and heir, Jesus of Nazareth is the Liberator of all those who trust in him , providing freedom from sin and Satanic domination to all who believe in his name. • As the Light of the world, Jesus came into the world that those who are blind might see, and those claiming to see may be made blind.
