The Gospe l of John
a. Heb. 7.25 – Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
b. 2 Pet. 1.11 – For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
C. Jesus is the Good Shepherd, 10.11-21.
1. I am the good shepherd that lays down his life for the sheep, 10.11.
2. Hired hands, which care nothing for the sheep, abandon them at the first sign of the wolf’s appearing, 10.12-13.
3. My own know me and I know my own even as the Father knows me and I know him; I lay down my life for the sheep , 10.14-15.
4. “Other sheep that are not of this fold”: I must bring them in, they will listen to me, and there will be one flock and one shepherd , 10.16.
a. The entrance of Gentiles into God’s messianic community, Eph. 2.11-14 – Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— [12] remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
