b. Others are referred to in Scripture as gods (cf. Ps. 82.1 – God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment; Exod. 7.1 – And the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet.”)

c. The argument: If the unshakeable Scripture of God refers to others in Israel’s history as gods, why are you offended at me at saying I am the Son of God?, 10.34-36.

4. The empirical test, 10.37-38

a. Don’t believe me if I do not do the works of the Father , 10.37.

b. Even if you can’t handle my words, believe the works so you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I am in the Father , 10.38.

5. Jesus escapes again from the Jews’ attempt to arrest him, 10.39.

III. The Death of Lazarus, 11.1-16

A. John provides information about Lazarus and his sisters, 11.1-4.
