8. Jesus’ final command: “Unbind him, and let him go,” 11.44b.

a. The Kingdom of God has arrived in the person of Jesus of Nazareth, Mark 1.14-15 – Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, [15] and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” b. John 5.25-26 – Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. V. “One Man Should Die for the People,” 11.45-57

A. The Council’s concern, 11.45-48

1. Mixed reaction to the miracle: many of the mourners who witnessed Lazarus’s resurrection believed in Jesus as Messiah, but some went to the Pharisees and told them about it, 11.45-46.

2. The chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the Council (Sanhedrin): What is we gon’ do? , 11.47a (for this man performs many signs : an acknowledgment of Jesus’ works , 11.47b).
