3. The testimony of God’s deliverance can spawn wonder, amazement, and faith.
a. The impact of the lame man’s healing, Acts 3.10 – and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
b. The power of tangible witness to opposition, Acts 4.14 – But seeing the man who was healed standing beside them, they had nothing to say in opposition.
C. The Triumphal Entry of the King into Jerusalem, 12.12-19
1. The crowd of the feast go out to meet Jesus as he approaches Jerusalem from Bethany, 12.12.
2. Praise and palms to the coming Messiah: “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” , 12.13.
3. Jesus’ entrance fulfills the prophetic Scripture: Zech. 9.9 – Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
4. The disciples’ understanding of the meaning of this act after Jesus’ glorification , 12.16.
5. The crowd that had witnessed Lazarus’s resurrection continued to bear witness , 12. 17.
