c. Jesus’ reply: This voice has come for your sake, not mine, 12.30.

3. Judgment to the world, and casting out of its rule, 12.31-32

a. Through Jesus’ death, the world will be judged and Satan defeated.

(1) John 8.28 – So Jesus said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me.” (2) Gal. 3.13 – Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree.” (3) 1 Pet. 2.24 – He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. God made alive together with him, having for given us all our trespasses, [14] by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. [15] He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. (5) 1 John 5.4-5 – For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world— our faith. [5] Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (4) Col. 2.13-15 – And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
