C. The assurance and peace of the Messiah, 14.25-31

1. My words now are partial and incomplete, but the Spirit of truth will teach you all things, 14.25-26.

a. The Helper, the Holy Spirit will be sent to you by the Father in my name, 14.26a.

b. He will teach you all things , 14.26b.

c. He will bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you (a veiled reference to the future authorship of our Four Gospels, an authoritative record of the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth?), 14.26c.

2. The peace of Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah, 14.27

a. My peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you, 14.27a.

b. Not as the world gives do I give to you, 14.27b.

c. Reiterates his command for assurance : Let not your heart be troubled, neither let your hearts fear, 14.27c (see 14.1).

3. If you only knew where I was going, you’d rejoice: I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am, 14.28.

4. The role of prediction for Jesus: I tell you now so that when it happens you may believe, 14.29.
