2. The principle of representation from the side of persecution: Whoever hates me hates my Father also , 15.23.
3. Jesus’ works have exposed the world to its sins and guilt , and on this account, they hate both him and his Father, 15.24

VII. The Witness of the Spirit and the Disciples, 15.26-27
In light of the powerful revelations of his exiting, the sharing of his hostilities, the inability to go where he was going presently, and so on, the disciples needed the Messiah’s reassurance that he would be faithful to them. Jesus again now suggests that the ministry of the coming Counselor and Helper, the Spirit of truth, would bear witness to him, and enable them to bear witness to him as well.
A. The Spirit of truth bears witness to Jesus, 15.26.
1. But when the Helper comes: I will send the Holy Spirit to you from the Father, 15.26.
2. He is called the Spirit of truth , 15.26.
3. He, the Holy Spirit, proceeds from the Father , 15.26b.
4. His mission on earth: He will bear witness about me , 15.26c.
