The Gospe l of John

a. Acts 2.33 – Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.

b. Acts 5.31 – God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

c. Phil. 2.9-11 – Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, [10] so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11] and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

d. 1 Pet. 3.22 – who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him.

B. The disciples of Jesus bear witness to him, 15.27.

1. And you will also bear witness: a foreshadowing of the great Commission to be given after our Lord is resurrected (cf. Matt. 28.18-20; Mark 16.15ff; Luke 24.44-48; John 20.31; Acts 1.8).

2. Note the NT connection between bearing witness concerning Jesus as Messiah and the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit, Acts. 1.8; Luke 24.46-49.

3. The apostolicity of the Church: You also will bear witness because you have been with me from the beginning, 15.27 (cf. Luke 1.2; Acts 1.21-22; 1 John 2.7)
