The Gospe l of John

a. 1 John 4.15 – Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

b. 1 John 5.1 – Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him.

c. 1 John 5.10 – Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. d. 1 John 5.20 – And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

e. 2 John 1.9 – Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

III. The True Testimony of an Eyewitness to the Risen Jesus, 21.1-25

A. Jesus appears to seven disciples, 21.1-14.

1. John places this appearance as another sign by the Sea of Tiberius (Galilee), 21.1.

2. The disciples present at this sign: Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of the disciples together, 20.2
