5. John’s ironclad and true eyewitness testimony about Jesus: This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true , 21.24.
a. John 19.35 – He who saw it has borne witness— his testimony is true, and he knows that he is telling the truth— that you also may believe.
b. 1 John 1.1-2 – That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— [2] the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us.
c. 1 John 5.6 – This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
D. The innumerable and wondrous works of Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah, 21.25
1. A snapshot or a portrait: the Gospels are neither complete or strictly scientifically biographical, 21.25.
2. The Gospel of John is not exhaustive: Now there are also many other things that Jesus did , 21.25a.
a. Matt. 11.5 – the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.
