a. You must be born of water .

(1) Baptism?, Mark 16.16; Acts 2.38

(2) The Word of God, see Eph. 5.26 – that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word (See also John 15.3).

b. You must be born of the Spirit (i.e., the regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, Titus 3.4-7 – But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, [5] he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, [6] whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, [7] so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

4. “Sound of the wind” and the “voice of the Spirit”

a. The wind cannot be controlled or its behavior predicted (Eccles. 8.8; also 1.6; 2.11; 4.4; 6.16).

c. The Holy Spirit alone convicts and transforms, John 16.7-11.
