Jesus’ testimony rooted in firsthand experience of the Father , John 3.11-13 – Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony. [12] If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? [13] No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.
3. Moses and the serpent as type of Jesus Christ, 3.14-15
a. The argument from association and analogy : As the serpent which Moses lifted up on the pole brought healing to the people, so Jesus must be lifted up to heal the world (cf. Num. 21.4-9).
b. In the lifting up of Jesus (i.e., his death upon the Cross), he will draw humankind to himself, John 12.32-33.
