2. Jesus’ awareness of his disciples’ grumbling, 6.61-65
a. What would change your mind? ( if the Bread returned? ) 6.62
b. The Spirit and his words: “ The Spirit gives life, the flesh avails nothing,” 6.63.
3. John’s aside: Jesus’ complete knowledge of those who would believe and betray him; Jesus took nothing personal , 6.64.
4. Jesus reiterates the sovereignty of the Father in all true salvation, 6.65.
5. The toughness of Jesus’ words and the disciples’ reactions, After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him , 6.66.
B. The perseverance of the Twelve, 6.67-71
1. Jesus unbowed, unbent with the Twelve: “Do you want to go away as well?” , 6.67.
2. Simon Peter’s powerful answer: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, [69] and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God,” 6.68-69.
