eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.

e. John 14.10 – Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.

f. John 14.24 – Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.

g. John 17.8 – For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me.

4. A stinging indictment: Moses has given you the Law, and yet none of you keeps the Law. Why do you seek to kill me? , 7.19 (cf. Isa. 53.6; Ps. 14.1-3).

a. The crowd’s attitude: John 7.20 – The crowd answered, “You have a demon! Who is seeking to kill you?”

b. Jesus’ logic: You are guilty yourselves , why are you seeking to apply the same law which convicts you to me falsely ?

c. You misapply and misconstrue the Law unevenly and arbitrarily : You circumcise on the Sabbath, but I can’t heal a man’s whole body on the same Sabbath?, 7.21-24.

d. Don’t judge by appearance but by righteous judgment, 7.24.
