a. You are from below ; I am from above .
b. You are of this world ; I am not of this world .
c. You will die in your sins unless you believe that I am he , 8.24.
4. Further inquiry: “Who are you?” , 8.25, and Jesus’ witness, 8.26 (and their further misunderstanding, 8.27)
5. The point of recognition: When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he , 8.28a.
a. I do nothing of my own authority ; I speak just as the Father taught me .
b. He is true, has not left me alone, for “I always do the things that are pleasing to him,” 8.29.
6. Many believed in him as a result of hearing his sayings, 8.30.
