a. John 1.18 – No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known.

b. John 14.6-7 – Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. [7] If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

c. Col. 1.15 – He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

d. Heb. 1.3 – He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

e. 2 John 1.9 – Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

6. Audacious teaching doesn’t cause a riot. Why? “ . . . because his hour had not yet come,” 8.20.

C. Jesus’ testimony: “I am from above,” John 8.21-30.

According to Jewish law, an agent must accurately represent his sender, and to the extent that he did so was backed by his sender’s full authorization (Craig Keener, IVP Bible Background Commentary , p. 285).

1. Jesus’ total awareness of place : I am going away, you will seek me and die in your sin, and where I am going, you cannot come, 8.21.
