(3) He has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him.

(4) When he lies, he speaks directly out of his own character; he is a liar, and the father of lies.

d. You don’t believe me because I tell you the truth, 8.45.

e. None of you can convict me of sin, yet you still refuse to hear what I have to say, 8.46.

f. Whoever is of God hears the words of God . You do not hear me because you are not of God , 8.47.

VII. Jesus of Nazareth: God the Son or Son of Satan, John 8.48-59

A. The Jews’ intensify their venom against Jesus: two horrible spiritual slights, 8.48-50

1. You are a Samaritan (your views are a hodge-podge of unclear, untrue, and unlawful gibberish).

a. They resented the dominance of the Temple in popular Judaism.

b. They challenged the exclusiveness of Abraham .

2. You are demon-possessed (you are under the control of Beelzebub).

a. They are challenging his prophetic credibility .
