Understand the story; don’t get lost in the details. The story of Jesus painted over the whole life of the Church sounds great. In its broad outline, the Church Year makes perfect sense. However, the Church Year is not free of all difficulty. The are some unfamiliar words and celebrations that change dates (Easter). There are versions of the Church Year that have celebrations and readings on virtually every day of the year. Don’t get lost in the details. The Church Year is not a rigid rule that you have to do perfectly. Don’t worry about getting it right all the time. The goal is simple – follow the story of Jesus.
