Jesus Cropped from the Picture
Jesus Cropped from the Picture
do several studies of the Bible. Once I had completed these tasks I would have a ceremony with all of the influential people in my life to celebrate my commitment. One of the things I had to do as part of the study was to tell the story of the Bible in under a minute. This got the wheels turning. Like most kids my age, I had never thought about it before, and I was required to look it up. The more I did, the more intrigued I was with it. I found that most of the greatest elements in a story happened to be in God’s story as well. The more I found these, the more fascinated I became with God’s storytelling abilities. Rebellion, war, new life, huge mistakes, new hope, chosen people, chosen one, friendship, betrayal, sacrifice, galactic conflict, return of a king, and a battle to end all evil, were the main themes. I began to notice many of these concepts in some of my favorite books and movies (yes Star Wars included). I realized that was why I loved stories and storytelling so much because we are in the midst of the most epic, amazing story ever told. I also realized, I had become a character in this story, thrust into a difficult situation where I can’t afford to not grow up fast and become a hero. My secret wish had come true. I was no longer an average kid living an average life. I was a warrior, fighting for my army, and destroying evil on a daily basis. Suddenly, my life became much more thrilling, not to mention it made way more sense. Now I realized that all aspects of my life are part of God’s story that he chose to tell through me. As someone who loved these kinds of things to begin with, it was indescribably incredible to become part of the Greatest Story Ever Told.
