Jesus Cropped from the Picture

The Story In Chapter Version Chapter 1: An Attempted Coup (Before Time) Biblical Period: Gen. 1.1a

God exists in perfect fellowship before creation. The devil and his followers rebel and bring evil into existence. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made (John 1.1-3).

Chapter 2: Insurrection (Creation and The Fall) Biblical Period: Gen. 1.1b-3.13

God creates man in his image who then joins Satan in rebellion. Just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned (Rom. 5.12).

Chapter 3: Preparing for Invasion (The Patriarchs, Kings, and Prophets) Biblical Period: Gen. 3.14-Malachi God contends to set apart a people for his own, out of which will come a King to deliver mankind, including Gentiles. Clues to his battle plans are hinted at along the way. They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ who is God over all (Rom. 9.4-5).
