Objectives Welcome to Chapter 3, New Beginnings in Christ – Foundations of the Faith, Series 1 . In this study we explore the nature of the Gospel of salvation in how repentance and faith lead to the new birth and adoption into the family of God. After your reading, study, discussion, and application of the materials in this chapter, you will be able to: • Learn the rationale behind the first series of the Master the Bible System, New Beginnings in Christ , including a knowledge of both its key rationale and major elements of its Scripture memorization program. • Gain an overview of the critical elements of the Gospel, salvation by faith in Christ, repentance from sin, and adoption into the family of God. • Become able to defend the truth that Christ is both the foundation and centrality of a growing Christian’s life, and demonstrate from the Bible how that occurs. • Recite from Scripture how both membership in a local assembly and care under a pastor are necessary and beneficial to our ongoing growth and maturity in Christ. • Map out the specific ways that Christian conversion and membership in a local assembly go hand in hand with vital spiritual formation.
