c. Greater is he who is in us than he who is in the world, 1 John 4.4.

3. The Kingdom has not yet been fully fulfilled: Only when Christ returns to complete his victory will evil finally be put to an end.

a. Satan still blinds the mind of unbelievers, 2 Cor. 4.4 – In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

b. The devil prowls about looking for whom he can devour, like a roaring lion, 1 Pet. 5.8.

c. The world still lies in the power of the evil one, 1 John 5.19 – We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

d. The enemy still schemes against God’s people, Eph. 6.10-11 – Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. [11] Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

D. In Jesus of Nazareth, God’s Messiah ushers in the Kingdom of God.

Jesus’ message was the Kingdom of God. It was the center and circumference of all He taught and did. . . . The Kingdom of God is the master-conception, the master-plan, the master-purpose, the master-will that gathers everything up into itself and gives it redemption, coherence, purpose, goal.
