Leading a Capstone Module or Foundations for Ministry Series Class Session

Flexible structures that can be adapted for your site’s needs are a staple in TUMI’s educational philosophy. With so many dozens of contexts employing our training regimens and materials, it would be impossible to insist on a single, “perfect” means of teaching, hosting, and facilitating meaningful training experiences in all our partner sites. You and your colleagues will need to use your wisdom and follow the Spirit’s leading as to how you will structure your training. Feel free to experiment as you strive to find the most appropriate and edifying structure that best suits the needs of your students and serves the availability of you and the other Mentors. Below you will find our suggestion of what kind of format best suits an effective facilitation of our Capstone modules and Foundations for Ministry Series courses. These resources are specially formatted to be similar in structure, which enhances both student and mentor famili- arity with the course outline and approach. They do differ, however, with several notable exceptions: first, our Capstone Curriculum uti- lizes video in teaching format whereas our Foundations for Ministry Series uses audio. Second, our Capstone Curriculum video teaching is approximately four hours in total length, whereas our Foundations courses’ audio teaching runs anywhere from eight to sixteen hours in length. Also, some of our Foundations courses have PowerPoint resources accessible to review while listening to the audio teaching. Some of our Mentors have chosen to listen to the audio of the Foundations courses, and then teach the course materials themselves. These materials have been designed for flexible use. However you choose to structure your learning format, and whatever you choose to do, the following outline of managing a class session can help you facilitate a classroom meeting thoroughly and excellently.
