Thanksgiving meal in which hundreds would come to the World Impact Center for fellowship, food, and the Gospel. 6. I started the Sonshine Thrift Store to provide clothing and household goods as a means to give a “hand up” by not giving these away but providing these goods at prices those in need could afford without compromising their other financial responsibilities. I’m proud to say that my dad and mom ran the store. 7. We also began a ministry called Sonshine Fashions, where we would bring women newly released from prison to the Sonshine Thrift Store to pick out several pairs of clothes and assist in preparing them for job interviews. These women were released from prison with only their prison garb and nothing else. 8. We also started an annual Christmas store based on the same principle to provide dignity and a hand up and not a handout. We would limit how much a family could spend ($25) so that they wouldn’t be tempted towards greed. The prices were drastically reduced on the brand-new toys, clothes, and items. A new basketball might go for $2. 9. Susan helped a young woman to not have an abortion and then walked her through the entire adoption process. 10. I served on the Fresno Chief of Police’s Violence Intervention and Community Engagement Task Force. 11. I helped give guidance and support for the first gathering for families who experienced senseless acts of violence in the city. We took them to our World Impact camp to get out of the city and debrief as families in a safe environment. 12. I have served as a Police Chaplain.
