Let us embrace and “strike as one” (Judg. 6.16) against the forces of darkness knowing that God will sustain and provide according to His will and purpose in our missions calling to the lost and least of these. Connection Story I want to share a negative story to bring out the critical importance for the Church to embrace together as one unified force moving forward with the Gospel against one evil spiritual
destructive force. There are few times when I wanted to “pack my bags” and turn my back from the call to missions that the Lord Jesus had given me. This is one of those times. A brutal injustice had taken place in the poor community that Susan and I were bringing up our family. It was an African American community. Racial tensions were high and trust in the police force was low. Being an active member of an alliance of African American churches opened up many doors for me to serve and to have a Kingdom voice in these challenging times. I was the only white person in the alliance but garnished respect because I lived in the community, when even the pastors, whose churches were in the community, would not live here. One fateful night, an African American man was shot and killed by the police. The neighbors reported that the police had chased the individual, who was the suspect of a crime, into an abandoned home not far from where we lived. It was heard that the man was
