How to Select Your Institute’s Curriculum
Selecting curricula for your training programs demands your most careful and prayerful investigation. It is important that you have the maximum flexibility in accessing our materials, as well as taking advantage of the teaching resources you have in your own locale. You can select from a series of different options, some of which include purchasing curriculum directly from The Urban Ministry Institute (see Appendices 13 and 25). 1. The Capstone Curriculum. You may elect to use the course material we are preparing for the development of urban Christian leaders. Capstone is a training curriculum designed to help a learning group of students receive 32 hours of seminary-level training over a given period of time. All 16 modules may be applied to our Certificate in Christian Leadership Studies for credit at The Urban Ministry Institute (see Appendices 13.1, 13.2, and 14 for details). 2. The Foundations for Ministry Series. You may employ our self-directed study materials covering courses which can be applied for credit with us. These are discrete courses on a variety of subjects based in our four academic departments: Biblical Studies, Theology and Ethics, Christian Ministry, and Urban Mission. They are designed to be taught in groups, Sunday School classes, or as individual self-directed studies, and can be applied for credit under certain conditions and stipulations (see Appendices 13.3 and 14 for details). 3. S atellite-Designed Courses. You may find a wealth of theological and biblical resources right in your own community through various mentors, professors, pastors, or other educators who can contribute to your own well- rounded curriculum. We suggest that you employ a standard curriculum, and use professor-created or self-written courses as support. Our desire is that you find the right theological resources to design the most appropriate training curriculum you can for your students. (Our recommended curricula options are listed below.) Please check with us when you have finalized your curriculum. In most cases we may be able to accept your course of study and
